Meet MPH HEP Graduates

Our student’s love our program. You can also read about the motivations behind getting their master’s in public health in health education and promotion and what they’re doing since graduation.

Having been in the HEP MPH program, I am well prepared for the field. The course work has all been very applicable, and I still have several textbooks that I use for reference frequently. My actual time in the program was so positive that I sometimes find myself missing the times when I got to be a student. The writing skills, health communication skills, and critical thinking (with a systems thinking approach) has made my transition into health promotion pretty seamless.

TBD

Participating in the USU MPH program was an enriching experience as a public health professional. The program’s flexibility fostered a rich learning environment that expanded my horizons while I continued to work in the field. Through the HEP MPH program, I not only deepened my public health knowledge but also significantly enhanced my career goals and prospects.

Our courses train you to be leaders in public health and will elevate your understanding of planning and evaluation skills, social determinates of health, health behavior, and more. You also can participate in a study abroad experience that we host every two years.

The focus of this course is on the application of techniques used to plan and evaluate public health interventions. Students develop skills in needs assessment, program planning, and evaluation by reading and discussing literature and working on assignments.

This course provides a foundational perspective to systematically analyze health topics. Students use the socio-ecological approach to comprehensively interpret the social determinants of health and summarize their meaning in the context of public and global health promotion efforts.

This course consists of supervised student participation in a health promotion project.

This course will provide students within the Master of Public Health Program with the background necessary to identify potential funding opportunities (federal and private sources) and to develop a competitive funding proposal as well as basic program management techniques.
