Utah State University

Utah State University (USU) was founded in Logan, Utah in 1888 with the express mission of providing access to education to all. Over the years, we have taken advantage of existing resources and embraced new technology in order to fulfill our mission. In the early days, professors would travel using planes, trains and cars to extend access to higher education to remote areas. For communities the professors couldn't reach, classes were available by correspondence and later offered using the state wide satellite system.

In 1997, USU leveraged the internet & offered its first fully online course. Twenty years later, USU offers over 30 completely online degrees and programs to students in nearly every state in the U.S. Courses are still taught by the same high caliber professors that teach in Logan. We have tried to keep tuition costs low and continue to explore new ways to improve student learning and their educational experience.

Utah State University is regionally accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. The Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) is an independent, non-profit membership organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
Utah State University is nationally accredited by the U.S. Department of Education. The goal of accreditation is to ensure that education provided by institutions of higher education meets acceptable levels of quality. Accreditation's quality assurance function is one of the three main elements of oversight governing the Higher Education Act's (HEA's) federal student aid programs.
